Stony Point, New York, and Saint-Martin, South of France.

Attended an Art School in New York

1957 

Flag on Orange Field; became symbol for new concept of art which works with ambiguity of signs

1958  

Solo Exhibition at Leo Castelli Gallery: beginnings of Pop Art

1960s 

Experimented with assemblages:

Field Painting, 1964;

and created sculptures Painted Bronzes, 1960

1967 - 1968

Worked for the Merce Cunningham Dance Company and John Cage.

1970s

Flat patterns borrowed from repertoire of anonymous everyday motifs but allude to private and art historical experiences

1980s

Host of art historical references from Grünewald to Picasso and Duchamp incorporated in his paintings
