Fondation Beyeler to host The UBS Art Collection

Fondation Beyeler in Riehen, Switzerland, will exhibit about 60 works from The UBS Art Collection from 27 November 2005 to 26 February 2006. This is the Collection's first visit to Europe and will follow the current exhibition Contemporary Voices: Works from The UBS Art Collection at the newly re-opened Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. That exhibition, on view until 25 April 2005, features 40 partial and promised gifts to MoMA and 24 on loan from The UBS Art Collection.

The UBS Art Collection comprises about 900 paintings, sculptures, photographs and drawings by the world's major artists. Among the artists represented are Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Sigmar Polke, Gerhard Richter, Cy Twombly, Anselm Kiefer and Jenny Holzer. Collected over three decades and focused on artists from the second half of the 20th century, the collection is drawn from the former PaineWebber Collection in the USA, as well as from UBS collections in Switzerland and Europe.
