The Event

2008 will mark UBS’ fourth year as a Proud Partner of one of the most prestigious events in golf, THE PLAYERS Championship. One of the strongest fields in golf, including defending champion Phil Mickelson, will come together to compete for the richest prize on the PGA TOUR – a $9 million purse with $1.7 million going to the winner. Mickelson outlasted the rest of the field in 2007, despite heavy winds and difficult conditions, to notch his 31st career win and his first PLAYERS Championship. The 2007 event raised $2.8 million for Charity.

The 2008 PLAYERS will be broadcast Thursday and Friday from 3 to 6 PM on the GOLF CHANNEl and Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 7 PM on NBC, with additional live coverage worldwide, including European and Asia-Pacific countries.

UBS at THE PLAYERS

New to THE PLAYERS in 2008 will be the Stadium Village. Fans looking to re-create their favorite moments from Players’ past will have to go no further than the Stadium Village, which will provide an interactive experience conveniently located behind the 18th Green. Famed holes 16, 17 and 18, widely regarded as the most exciting finishing stretch in golf, are the subjects of the Stadium Village. Fans can recreate Davis Love III’s and Fred Couples’ dramatic eagles on 16, or recall their favorite memorable moments from the famed 18th hole by attempting historic putts made by winners Steve Elkington, Fred Funk, or Adam Scott.

However, the highlight of the Stadium Village will be the UBS 17th Challenge.

Entering its third year, the UBS 17th Challenge has a new location and several enhancements for tournament spectators. The Challenge offers fans the opportunity to actually hit a golf ball to a scaled replica of perhaps the most famous hole in golf. The replica hole is approximately ? scale of the actual 17th hole, with participants attempting a tricky 33 yard shot over a treacherous 50 thousand gallon water hazard. Participants will have the opportunity to win prizes for holding the green, daily closest to the hole and, of course, for hole-in-ones.

Over the past two years, the UBS 17th Challenge has been an incredible success. Over 30,000 spectators at THE PLAYERS have come to the venue, 11,000 have tried the shot, and about 20% have successfully hit the green.

In 2008, the new location is sure to attract a lot of attention for the UBS 17th Challenge. To keep fans entertained while at the UBS 17th Challenge and the Stadium Village, an 8 ft x 21 ft video board will showcase various media elements including dramatic moments in Players history, Live@The Players web streaming and the live NBC and GOLF CHANNEL broadcasts. Other enhancements to the UBS 17th Challenge include a modernized electronic registration process, improved swing video technology and many others. There will also be internet kiosks set-up to allow fans the opportunity to challenge their game on-line, via the new UBS Golf Challenge.

For the first time in 2008, UBS is offering fans the chance to test their game on-line and to earn their place on the leaderboard. Fans can play the interactive Par 3 UBS Golf Challenge at www.ubs.com/golfchallenge for a chance to win a trip for a round of golf at TPC Sawgrass Stadium course, and other high quality golf prizes provided by Golf Digest.
