While UBS’s Asia Pacific golf programme features some of the region’s highest-profile events, the bank’s support of the Faldo Series Asia also promises to help deliver the next generation of golfers.

Although UBS’s regional golf programme features commitments to some of the highest-profile tournaments in Asia Pacific, the programme’s central tenet is the support of golf in Asia and for Asia’s players.

As such, what about the next generation of professional stars? Courtesy of UBS’s ‘Major Partner’ status with the Faldo Series Asia, their futures are also in good hands.

Taking advantage of this opportunity in fine style in late 2007 was India’s Rashid Khan. The 16-year-old from Delhi hammered a field of Asia’s finest young players at Mission Hills Golf Club, winning the second Faldo Series Asia Grand Final by five shots. Also in the winners’ circle was Chinese Taipei’s Lin Tzu-chi, the overall girls’ champion.

They triumphed at an event comparable to many on the professional Tour and benefited from specialist seminars that included presentations from UBS on handling the commercial side of professional golf and working with the media, key areas for the next generation of stars in Asian golf.

Designed to identify the next generation of champions, the Faldo Series Asia gives young players the opportunity to experience strict tournament conditions combined with expert support and advice. Simultaneously, the tournaments provide access to golf for younger children through grass-roots activities. As such, it is the ideal complement for UBS’s pan-regional approach to sponsoring the Asia Pacific game.

Faldo believes the support of a blue-chip partner like UBS is invaluable and was thrilled to welcome an organisation of the stature of the bank’s to the Faldo Series Asia.
