Pride Networks

UBS Gay and Lesbian Networks are open to all employees regardless of sexual orientation. The Networks meet regularly and serve as a valuable cross-functional discussion forum as well as a support network for employees experiencing or interested in Gay and Lesbian issues. They support activities across the Bank in such areas as employee recruitment, diversity training and mentoring as well as formal events.

Pride networks aim to:

  • Enhance professional development and organizational effectiveness by fostering recognition and appreciation of the individual contributions made by employees of all sexual orientations

  • Actively contribute an open and respectful work environment, and to promote changes that maintain UBS' position as an employer of choice

  • Maximize all employees' contributions by creating and sustaining a LGBT friendly environment where people are comfortable being open and honest about their individuality

UBS and the US Pride Network recognize June as the Lesbian and Gay Pride Month, which began in 1969 in New York City. Every year in June, Pride hosts a variety of events, such as speakers, panel discussions, networking events, etc. Most recently, PRIDE welcomed tennis legend Billie Jean King.

The Pride UK network hosted information and awareness sessions for employees last year entitled “Managing a Diverse Workforce” focusing on sexual orientation. In 2007, they launched a Personal Development Workshop Series – including “Planning Your Career within UBS” and “What makes a Leader”, which is available to all London employees.

Networks have been set up in the US, EMEA and Switzerland.
