The Working Parents Group was established to provide a discussion forum and support group for mothers and fathers and to support retention and advancement of working parents by addressing work-life issues, in order to create a more productive environment for all UBS employees.

  • Promote cross-business/division discussions and exchange of ideas among all employees;

  • Address working parent issues through the creation of mentoring and networking programs;

  • Reduce attrition and increase retention of working parents by providing ongoing ideas and suggestions to enhance their progress and development;

  • Educate employees about issues topical to working parents through seminars, panel discussions and brown-bag workshops;

  • Navigate working parents through UBS' existing programs and resources by the development of business group liaisons;

  • Think progressively and work diligently to encourage a more inclusive UBS culture;

  • Support UBS incentives to promote diversity, work/life balance, talent development and employer-of-choice recognition.

Parent Match – Parent Match is a program designed to connect working parents at UBS with other working parents. The aim of the program is for the pairs to act as a resource or sounding board for each other. These matches benefit both new and expectant parents, as well as seasoned parents looking to discuss various parental issues. Through the Parent Match program, participants are paired with another UBS parent who has expressed similar interests.

Parent Primer Workshop – This workshop is designed to provide UBS employees with an overview of UBS policies, benefits and programs specifically targeting expecting parents. It also covers the “Later Years for UBS Employees' Children” as well as an introduction to the Working Parents group.

FamilyMatters@UBS is an employee network to support employees in their family responsibilities. They aim to make resources available to employees to improve their well-being, and the well-being of their families.

  • To maximize performance, motivation and employee commitment by providing a support platform for employees as they juggle work and family obligations and try to balance their professional and family lives

  • To position UBS as the employer of choice by making resources available to employees as they experience life changing events such as parenthood, divorce, bereavement, aging parents and retirement

  • To support collaboration across products, teams and business areas by functioning as an internal networking group

  • To position UBS as a brand leader in investment banking by acting as a focus/advisory group, contributing to the formulation of policies with actual or potential impact on employees with family responsibilities

  • We believe FamilyMatters@UBS will have a number of positive benefits for the bank including retention, recruitment and reputation

In the UK, the FamilyMatters@UBS network is running a range of speaker events for employees focused upon parenting, caring responsibilities, eldercare, health and well-being. In 2007 they also launched Communities of Interest Groups, which provide a forum through which employees can come together to form discussion groups around different areas of family responsibility.
