Three highly respected independent scholars are members of the Sharia Advisory Council:
Sheikh Nizam Yaquby is a prominent Islamic scholar who has contributed important original research on many aspects of modern Islamic finance, and is considered one of the world’s leading experts in the field. Since 1976, he has taught tafsir, hadith and fiqh. He received a BA degree in Economics and Comparative Religion from McGill University (Canada).
Dr. Abdul Sattar Abu Ghuddah holds a PhD in Islamic Law from AI Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt. He is an active member of the Islamic Fiqh Academy, Saudi Arabia, and of the Accounting & Auditing Standards Board of Islamic Financial Institutions, Bahrain (AAIOFI).
Dr. Mohammed Elgari is a Professor of Economics, and the former Director of the Center for Research in Islamic Economics at King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia. He has written many books in English and Arabic on the subject of Islamic Finance.
