Development programs

We support your professional development from the moment you join us.

Most education is handled through dedicated learning and development units within each business. Specialists work closely with the business areas to design education programs and processes that maximize the benefits to you and the firm.

Our education methods include classroom training, e-learning, and the blending of the two. We utilize the skills and experience of industry professionals, in addition to our own training specialists and subject experts.

Some roles require intensive and focused training over an extended period. This may include rotations to provide exposure to different aspects of our business. For others, the relevance of your experience means that you will be able to hit the ground running and make an immediate contribution as soon as you join your team.

Leadership tracks

As you progress to higher professional and executive positions within UBS, advanced programs, processes and learning solutions support and challenge you. High-performing individuals may be selected to take part in a talent mobility program that gives you the chance to broaden your horizons through international experience. Some of our businesses also have their own leadership fast tracks.

Top-quality leadership programs help us develop and sustain a pipeline of high-potential and senior executives. The UBS Leadership Development System is a systematic approach to leadership development across the company. It develops, aligns and unites our high-potential employees, key position holders and most senior-level executives through business-specific and cross-business programs.

The UBS Leadership Institute leverages the collective leadership capability of our key talent by promoting cross-organizational learning. Its forums and programs ensure that our senior leaders have the understanding, knowledge and capabilities needed to support the firm’s strategic agenda.

Career mobility

The opportunity for our employees to move from one role to another, across businesses, business groups and regions, is an important driver of our growth. Our businesses benefit from the constant exchange of knowledge and experience of a mobile workforce. We therefore actively support all types of career mobility. For example, in 2006, more than 1,000 employees moved to jobs in another region, with transfers from Switzerland to the Americas or Asia Pacific being the most common.
