New York, February 9, 2005--UBS announced today that Lewis R. Steinberg has joined the firm as a Managing Director and Head of the Global Strategic Solutions Group within the Investment Banking Division. Mr. Steinberg is based in New York and reports to Ken Moelis and Robert Gillespie, joint Global Heads of Investment Banking.
In his new role, Mr. Steinberg will work with all of the Investment Bank's product and solution groups focusing on client's complex M&A and financing issues.
Mr. Steinberg joins the firm from Cravath, Swaine and Moore LLP where he was most recently Co-Head of the Tax Department.

Mr. Steinberg earned his A.B. in 1978 from Amherst College and his JD (1984) and his LLM in Taxation (1992) from New York University's School of Law.
