Portfolio managers have a disciplined approach to portfolio construction that focuses on bottom-up stock selection and seeks to incorporate the best analyst ideas into clients’ portfolios. Sophisticated in-house risk tools are also integral to our process and help portfolio managers to make well-informed investment decisions.

We look for companies that we have identified as possessing a competitive advantage, such as a dominant market position or franchise.
We invest in companies that we believe can sustain above-average returns at a higher level and over a longer period of time than their current market prices would suggest.

There is a clear separation between our core investment management and growth equity capabilities. Unlike our core investments, our growth equity management team uses a quantitative process to screen stocks. This process entails ranking stocks based on their fundamental dynamics and according to their valuations. The growth team then performs fundamental research on the stocks that make it through the screening process.

Both investment capabilities share resources where and when appropriate, including macro research tools, trading systems, our proprietary global information-sharing network Pedestal, the Constellation risk management system, and a portion of a large-cap equity research. At all times, however, we preserve the structural integrity and focus of both capabilities.
