The Venue

Located amongst the forests of Ibaraki, the UBS Japan Golf Tour Championship has the perfect home at the Shishido Hills Country Club.

The Venue

Set in the trees of Kasama in Ibaraki Prefecture, Shishido Hills Country Club has made its name as home to one of the most prestigious tournaments in Japanese men’s golf.

Having first opened its doors in 1974, course architect Akira Hatsuwa was responsible for crafting the superb West and East layouts that wind through the local forests. In keeping with its reputation, the more famed West (Nishi) Course has been host venue to the Japan Golf Tour Championship since 2003.

Set about 90 minutes northeast of Tokyo, Shishido Hills is an ideal venue for UBS. Easily accessible from the bank’s Japanese headquarters, it provides a stunning home for unique client entertaining experiences, employee engagement in the event and fans taking in one of the most famous titles in Japanese golf.

However, for the players, the West Course is anything but simple. The true test comes at the signature par-four 17th hole. Measuring 485 yards, its beauty belies its ferociousness as, in 2008, it was the hardest hole on the course for the fourth consecutive year at almost half a stroke over par.

However, for the clients, fans and staff that travel to one of the marquee events in Japanese golf, Shishido Hills provides no such troubles as the home of the UBS Japan Golf Tour Championship.
