UBS Japan Golf Tour Championship

As one of the most prestigious titles in Japanese golf, the UBS Japan Golf Tour Championship is the ideal vehicle from which to deliver for the local business.

Appropriately, for one of the flagship properties of UBS’s Asia Pacific sponsorship programme, the UBS Japan Golf Tour Championship is one of the showcase events of Japanese golf.

Owned by the Japan Golf Tour, the players’ organisation, the tournament is considered one of the most prestigious in the game. Attracting more than 130 of the Tour’s finest players every season, it is an ideal complement to events such as the UBS Hong Kong Open and THE PLAYERS Championship on the UBS roster.

For the players, the tournament is one of the most sought-after titles in Japan, a level of importance reflected in the roster of winners during the tournament’s burgeoning history. That list was enhanced when Hidemasa Hoshino added his name to the illustrious list, with his thrilling victory last year.

The 2007 champion, Shingo Katayama, completed his set of Japan’s ‘majors’ when he added the title to his previous wins at Japan’s Open and PGA Championships.

The tournament also has a special place for one of Japan’s most successful golfers, Toshimitsu Izawa, who won the first Japan Golf Tour Championship in 2000. He triumphed again in 2003 to be the only multiple winner in tournament history.

For UBS, that dedication and desire will undoubtedly pay dividends again this June, when players such as Hoshino, Katayama, Izawa and rising star Ryo Ishikawa battle for the title once again.
