2010 will mark UBS sixth year as a Proud Partner of one of the most prestigious events in the world of golf, THE PLAYERS Championship. One of the strongest fields in golf will come together to compete for the richest prize on the PGA TOUR a $9.5 million purse.
The UBS 17th Challenge returned to THE PLAYERS Stadium Village in 2009, allowing tournament spectators the chance to play a scaled replica of the famous island green 17th hole. In 2009 over 10,000 fans took a shot representing a 30% increase from 2008.
As a Proud Partner of THE PLAYERS, UBS also received brand exposure in a unique, consumer-oriented campaign in celebration of the 2008 PLAYERS Champion, Sergio Garcia. "Dress Sergio" was a one-of-a-kind promotion designed to create excitement and interest around the apparel that Sergio would wear during the 2nd round of THE PLAYERS. From March 23 May 6, 2009, consumers voted for one of three possible outfits. More than 35,000 people voted for the winning kumquat option the outfit worn by UBS staff on-site.
In 2009, UBS and the PGA TOUR offered "PaintFest" on Tuesday, May 5 to benefit the Wolfson's Children's Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. Paint stations were set up in Stadium Village featuring golf and TPC Sawgrass-themed silhouettes that fans had the opportunity to paint in a "paint by numbers" approach. The entire set created a mural that was donated on behalf of UBS and the PGA TOUR to Wolfson's Children's Hospital.
