For the 50th consecutive year, the Hong Kong Open, title-sponsored by UBS since 2005, will return to the Hong Kong Golf Club from November 20-23 this year.
The only tournament in Asia of such history to have been played continuously at the one venue for such a period, and one of just three in the world, the UBS Hong Kong Open continues to live up to its tagline, The Heritage Continues.
First played in 1959, the inaugural tournament was won by Mr Lu Liang-huan, one of the pioneers of elite tournament golf in Asia. The following year, Peter Thomson entered the winners circle, the first of a remarkable nine different Major champions that have also won in Hong Kong. That list includes other famous names such as Greg Norman, José María Olazábal, Tom Watson and Bernhard Langer and this years two time major winner Padraig Harrington, something no other tournament in Asia can match.
