Our values are the foundation that will enable us to achieve our ambitions.

  • The goal of our organization is to ensure long-term, sustainable growth.

  • Our corporate culture and values are core business drivers and fundamental to enabling us to regain trust and reach our ambitions.

  • By living our UBS values we can exploit upcoming opportunities.

To best describe our culture, we clustered our values into four categories: focus on the client, lead yourself, lead others, act with integrity.

Focus on the client Lead yourself

The ultimate purpose of all of our activities is to increase client satisfaction.

  • We know that when our clients succeed, we succeed.

  • We listen to our clients. This is essential to putting ourselves in the client's position and to understanding his/her needs and expectations.

  • By focusing on the client, we can exceed his/her expectations. We ask for feedback and act upon it – because we believe we can always do better.

Lead yourself means that each individual takes responsibility for his or her own motivation, development and success, including the following values and principles:

  • We take responsibility to grow, learn and develop ourselves in order to perform at our best. We search for opportunities, take the initiative to overcome obstacles and positively influence our work environment.

  • We strive to improve the quality and efficiency of existing processes and services as they are a prerequisite for sustainable success. This requires the willingness to go the extra mile, take different views into account and exchange best practices.

  • Self-criticism prevents complacency. We constantly ask ourselves whether we execute the firm's strategy and set an example for others.

  • We are enthusiastic about our work since passion, commitment and energy fuel personal fulfillment and success.

Lead others Act with integrity

Everyone, not only line managers, can lead others by being a role model, appreciating others' successes and supporting one another's endeavors. Leading others is about creating a collaborative environment and developing people on the basis of meritocracy and diversity:

  • We mutually support one another's success by sharing information, keeping an open mind and treating others with dignity and respect. These are central elements of our culture. Conflicts are not avoided but discussed and solved in a constructive way.

  • Our evaluations, rewards and promotion decisions are based on performance and contribution. Performance issues are addressed in a straightforward and honest way.

  • Our strengths are leveraged by embracing a global diversity of cultures, perspectives, skills and experiences. Diversity also means listening to different opinions and fostering a culture of debate.

  • We give people the opportunity to grow and develop in their jobs.

  • We communicate openly and honestly across organizational boundaries and inform others about the rationale of decisions.
