1966

In China Mao Zedong launches the "cultural revolution", which ends 1969.

SBC establishes a Representative Office in Tokyo (It had an Advisor there since 1965).

Swiss Center, New York

The Rockefeller Center Office in New York is moved to the Swiss Center.

Total Assets of SBC amount to 11,3 billion CHF.

UBS establishes a Representative Office in Tokyo (Branch in 1972).

UBS introduces a new Corporate Logo - in color.

At the end of this year Total Assets of UBS for the first time exceed 10 billion CHF (10,1 billion CHF).

1967

The European Community (EC) is established by uniting the three European Organizations Montanunion, Euratom and EEC.

ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) is established by Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia to promote economic cooperation among them.

In the Six Days' War Israel occupies the Egyptian Sinai Peninsula up to the Suez canal, the Jordanian Westbank of the Jordan river and the Syrian Golan Heights.

SBC establishes an Advisory Office in Madrid.

UBS acquires 100% of the Banca Popolare di Lugano (BPL), of which it owned most of the share capital already since 1962.

Interhandel (Internationale Industrie- und Handelsbeteiligungen AG, Basel - International Holdings in Industry and Commerce) is merged into UBS and thus increases the equity by almost 68% from 575 million CHF to 965 million CHF. With this UBS has become, in terms of capital, one of the strongest banks in Europe.

UBS opens its London Branch, the first operational unit outside of Switzerland. (Up to now, UBS only had Representative Offices abroad.)

UBS sets up a Representative Office in Johannesburg, where there has been an Advisor since 1952.
