1900

Bank of Winterthur

 

When the Bank of Winterthur was created in 1862, the town of Winterthur was by no means overshadowed by Zurich. However, by the end of the 19th century Zurich had become the leading economic and financial city of Switzerland.

1901

Hermann LaRoche- Burckhardt

 

Hermann LaRoche-Burckhardt succeeds J.J. Schuster-Burckhardt as Chairman of Swiss Bankverein.

1906

Through the acquisition of the Banque d'Espine, Fatio & Cie, Genève, the Bankverein establishes a branch in Geneva.

Alphons Simonius- Blumer

 

Alphons Simonius-Blumer succeeds Hermann LaRoche-Burckhardt as Chairman of Swiss Bankverein.








Bank in Winterthur

 

The Bank in Winterthur takes over the Zurich branch of the Bank in Baden on Bahnhofstrasse 44 together with the Stock Exchange membership of that bank.

1907

Zürich

The Swiss National Bank SNB, the country's Central Bank - created by Federal Law in 1905 - becomes operational. Before, the issuing of Swiss Franc-bank notes was done by dozens of commercial banks throughout the country.

The Toggenburger Bank acquires and integrates the Bank in Wil. It thus establishes branches in Wil and Flawil.

1908

The Bankverein acquires Fratelli Pasquali in Chiasso and thus acquires its first branch in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland.

1909

The Bankverein acquires the Bank für Appenzell A.Rh. which had been founded in 1866 in Herisau.
