Schweizer Berghilfe

In the mountainous areas of Switzerland there are many good ideas and products which are worthy of being supported. Schweizer Berghilfe (Swiss mountain rescue) set up the initiative and support for the Adult Education Centre in Surselva to develop a course on setting up businesses. The course, which was run on a test-phase last November in Laax, provides a solid introduction on how to launch a business and also includes sections on operational management. The first course received a good response from its 22 participants. Eight of them have already formulated a business plan for their idea/product and one course attendee started a business in April 2007. Due to popular demand, a further course was hold in February 2007.

The course has now been tried and tested, and is to be rolled out across other regions. UBS supports the idea that people living in Switzerland’s mountainous areas should achieve economic independence and therefore supports Schweizer Berghilfe in carrying out projects of this nature.
