A small, proactive charity working in the City of London to promote local recruitment. It was established to widen access to quality, sustainable job opportunities in the City for people living in impoverished inner-city areas.

UBS assistance: UBS assistance: Funding of the ‘Working in the City’ internship program; internships for up to 20 students a year, some of whom have been recruited permanently; interview and CV workshops; and donations of business clothes for interviewees.

Sodalitas works to build bridges between business and the wider community in which they operate. In partnership with Sodalitas, Fondazione Cariplo, the Milan Municipality schools, psychologists and parents, UBS is supporting a pilot anti-bullying programme. Bullying in schools is an increasingly prevalent issue for young people in Italy and the project aims, through the provision of teacher training and support, to substantially reduce the problem in the 64 pilot schools, before potentially rolling out on a larger scale.

UBS assistance: UBS employees in the Milan office are starting to volunteer their business expertise to help vocational training students to reach their full potential in the workplace and beyond. This will involve career workshops, interview skills training and CV advice.

An international environmental charity that assists scientists by encouraging and enabling the public to participate in research projects all over the world.

UBS assistance: Support for the Fellowship Program in Africa since 2000. Employees have volunteered to take part in projects; UBS also makes a donation to Earthwatch for every employee volunteer.

ELBA is a private sector led and funded body that works towards the social and economic regeneration of East London. By acting as a broker, ELBA matches the skills of employee volunteers with the needs of local charities and community organisations.

UBS assistance: UBS volunteers have worked with ELBA to support over 100 charities in East London with advice on management issues, business planning, budgeting, marketing and HR issues. UBS is represented on the board and is supporting the Legacy 2020 program – an initiative to use the London 2012 Olympics as a catalyst for the regeneration of the area.
