UBS Switzerland’s Private and Corporate Clients business unit enjoyed a very strong year, with profit before tax in 2001 up 8% compared to 2000, at CHF 2,147 million, their highest level ever. The implementation of risk adjusted pricing and the strength of the Swiss economy in 2000 and most of 2001 led to a significant increase in credit quality, while operating expenses have remained under tight control, falling 5% compared to 2000.
